- Sieglinde politely registers some differences with certain choices in the mad scene (Futral-WTF is she on?)
- Unamplified Voice tells it about Giuseppe Filianoti (Tenor watch)
- More Filianoti appreciation at Operablog (Giuseppe Filianoti in Lucia - Dress Rehearsal)
I was quite pleased with Futral, but that may just go to show I A) don't know the opera that well and B) would be really into the bastard musical spawn of a Donizetti-Schoenberg union (per Sieglinde). I mean, that sounds cool, right? Silly purists...
Filianoti on the other hand is not so much up for debate. Goddamn, that man can sing. The moments when he hits his high note, holds it for like 20 minutes on the most golden pure tone imaginable, and then, just when you think his head is going to explode, goes higher and hangs out up there for another 20? He's like some kind of kick-ass opera cyborg. Inhuman I tell you. I want more.
